Question by The Boy: Car Question?
Well heres the situtation, Im 19 and need a car in like the next 2-4 weeks for school/work/hanging out. I have 2700 in cash right now and my mom is willing to spot me some money. I was looking for acura integras and pretty hard to find one with low mileage.
Well heres the question: Which would be the better choice as a student and also as a daily driver. A honda civic hatchback model yrs 1988-1991 or the acura integras from 1994-1998.
the civic hatchbacks in my area have around 100k mileage pretty good condition around $ 1500. the acura integras have around 150k miles a lil kncik hear and there for around $ 3300
Tell me guys i need opinions/tips!!!

Best answer:

Question by QuestionMark: car repair?
Okay so I have a 1986 BMW 325i. And lately It has been acting like it is on it last legs, but I don’t want to sell it. (for one I’ve gotten attached to it –its my first car, and two I think that it would be more fun for me to work on it)So the most I have done is change the oil on a car, that is the extent of my automotive matenince abilities, I just need to be told what to do to my car.
So here are the symptoms:
when I shift it into gear (reverse or drive) it will like bounce,
then when I’m driving just altogether it’s just loud (or at least louder than a car that size should be) and I don’t think it is the exaust because i just had that repaired a couple months ago. And when I floor it when I am on the freeway, or getting on the freeway, it has a bit of a delay(like a second or two).
And the air conditioning doesn’t work(but the vent works and the heater works).
So what Do I need to do?

Best answer:

Answer by Kiffin # 1
First step is to buy a mechanic’s guide to the vehicle. Second step is invest in a sizable collection of metric wrenches. Third, bring the vehicle to a reputable mechanic and ask him to do a diagnostic check, without repairing any defects; ask him for a printout of any defects found with the vehicle.

Next and finally, look at your mechanic’s manual and learn how to remove, repair, and replace defective parts. Good luck and have fun!

Question by coastiewife: auto repair?
We have a 2000 saturn sc, unfortunately when we recently took it in to get the alignment fixed we found out that it has a bent frame and the alignment repair could not be completed. The tire shop suggested we take it to a body shop for repair. My husband had a bit of an oops on a patch of ice back in february and we had no idea the frame was bent because there wasn’t any body damage. We can’t claim it on insurance(long story). Can anyone give me an idea, just a ballpark figure of what this “might” cost to fix? I know it’ll depend on the extent of the damage but any ideas or experiences would be helpful. I don’t want to faint when we get our real repair estimate.
my insurance isn’t refussing to pay for it, we can’t file a claim because the car wasn’t on our policy at the timne, it was on my parents because they still legally owned the car at the time but its on ours now and we have the title. its just one of those situations

Best answer:

Answer by paul s
Take it to a really good repair shop — even if your insurance won’t pay, ask them for their recommendation. That shop will anchor your frame all around, use lasers, etc. to see how far off the frame is, and use hydraulics to push and pull the frame back to the right shape. My guess is that unless it is tremendously out of whack, they will do it for about $ 1000

I am interested in fixing car sound system which include 1 unit of subwoofer, 1 unit of amplifier and 2 unit speaker for my home. Is it possible to do so? How to fix it?

Best answer:

Answer by cap’n cave
theres 2 things that can go wrong with a sub

1 the voice coil blows
meaning the coil of coated copper wire burned out or is shorted out

2 the rubber is perished, ripped, broken

1 is the hardest to fix cas you have to unwind the original coil and replace the wire with new coated copper wire to equivalent spec
(looks like this http://cgi.ebay.com/5ft-COATED-COPPER-WIRE-22GA_W0QQitemZ150341663950QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_2?hash=item150341663950&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1205|66%3A2|65%3A12|39%3A1|240%3A1318|301%3A1|293%3A1|294%3A50
ask for it at your local electronics store)
that sounds easy but can take up a fair bit of time
wouldn’t recommend it unless its a good sub
2 is real easy just buy a tube of regular black silicon and using your finger spread it over and fill all the rips and blemishes in the rubber
hope that helps
if its something els email me
peace XP
